Sycamore Bazaar on September 15th
Please come join us for our 69th Annual Bazaar, a celebration of Japanese-American and Japanese culture and cuisine, from noon to 5 p.m. on September 15th.
Admission is free to the festival on the grounds of Sycamore Congregational Church UCC, 1111 Navellier St. in El Cerrito. We will feature entertainment by Tatsumaki Taiko, The DulTones (doo wop), Sakura Ren (Awa Odori), Genyukai Berkeley and three Sycamore groups: Sycamore Praise Hula, Sycamore Rocks, and the Sycamore Christian Preschool Parents Choir.
The event will also offer plant sales, children’s games and activities, a silent auction and a large selection of Japanese food (as well as hot dogs and barbecue tri-tip) that has long been one of its most popular features. The day will begin with an 11:30 a.m. outdoor worship service that is open to all. Handicap parking is available.

On April 12, 2019, Sycamore Congregational welcomed Rev. Celestine Fields as its 3/4 time interim minister. Pastor Celeste will lead the English language worship, facilitate the congregation’s discernment of its vision and preparation for the search for Sycamore’s settled pastor. She will be serving with us for 12-18 months. Rev. Fields comes to the Bay Area from the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference in the North Penn Association of the United Church of Christ.
Lightspeed Overview of the Bible
Join us on January 28 at 9:30 for a quick overview of the Old Testament and on February 4 at 9:30 for a similar overview of the New Testament. This is designed as quick overview for people interested in understanding the big picture of the Bible.
Annual Meeting Jan. 21
Sycamore will have its Annual Meeting on January 21 after lunch. This is an important of being a congregational church and gives members an opportunity to vote on leaders, the budget for 2018, and proposed changes to the Constitution and Bylaws.

Welcoming New Members
Sycamore Church welcomed four new family members on Thanksgiving Sunday: Oka-San, Mari-San, Aiko-San and Rie-San. All four have been attending and supporting our Nichigobu Ministry for sometime. We welcome them as brother and sisters.
